On Saturday, the Gettysburg Bullets hosted Mary Washington at home. The Bullets men’s and women’s teams put on quite the performance. The Burg got off to a hot start, winning both 400 medley relays. Then freshman Ava Berry and standout senior Luke McKenna had great swims in the 1000 free. To no one’s surprise, Mia Yancey (1:56.19) took home the top spot in the 200 free followed closely by fellow bullet Lindsay Blake (2:00.53). On the men’s side, Mary Washington’s Jakob Robinette (1:46.27) came out on top followed by a pair of Bullets in Sam Nelson and Conor Vienneau.

In the 100 back, senior Natalie Wisniewski (59.65) led the way trailed by freshman Lanie McKenzie (1:00.33). Edward Kim secured the top spot on the men’s side, with Jack Murphy finishing behind him to complete the Gettysburg 1-2. Next was the 100 breast, sophomore Maya Knoller had a blistering first 50 (30.85) and held on to get the win in a 1:06.8. Charlie Cross(59.86) won a close battle with Declan Sheeran and Trey Mitchell completing the Gettysburg podium sweep. Edward Kim and Charlie Cross also took him the top spots in the 200back and 200 breast followed by Charter Sasseville and Declan Sheeran. Senior Olivia Pyott almost completed the comeback in the women’s 200 breast but she was narrowly out-touched by Mary Washington’s Bridget Zagrobelny(2:25.99). Junior Lindsay Blake (2:09.19) led teammates Natalie Wisniewski and Lanie McKenzie in the women’s 200 back completing the podium sweep. Mary Washington’s Ashley Dyer led the way in the women’s 500 free. On the men’s side, the Bullets finished 1 through 4, led by star freshman Sam Nelson (4:53.83), Conor Vienneau, Harry Nelson, and Joe Curry, in that order.

Sophomores Maggie Sedlak (2:13.26) and Bramley Hawkins finished 1-2 in the 200 fly, while on the men’s side, Mary Washington’s Jonathan Zimmer(1:56.73) took the top spot ahead of Gettysburg’s John Versoko and Mason Dillon.
Mary Washington’s Kinsey Brooks won a close battle with Mia Yancey and Maya Knoller to take the top spot in the women’s 100 fly. On the men’s side, Mary Washington’s Jonathan Zimmer spearheaded the trio of eagles that swept the 100 fly. Bullets’ sophomore Lorenzo Zullo swept both the 50 and 100 free on the men's side. While another pair of Bullets in Delaney Reck and Olivia Evans secured the 1-2 in the women’s 50 free. In the women’s 100 free, Mia Yancey, Delaney Reck, and Valerie Lawton took the top three spots scoring big points for Gettysburg. Sophomore Emma Anderson had a strong back half to take the women’s 400 im in time of 4:45.29. On the men’s side, a pair of seniors Charlie Cross and Luke McKenna finished 1-2. And now for the 200 free relays……
A 24.21 split by Valerie Lawton sealed the victory for the bullets on the women’s side. Cort Hobelman anchored the men’s A-relay in a 21.36 putting the finishing touch on a great day of racing at Gettysburg.

After the meet Bullets coach Greg Brown had a few words:
“Great wins today, team swam very well! Lorenzo Zullo and Maya Knoller really stood out. Great swims from Sarah McAndrew and Conor Vienneau as well! I’m really excited about the next month, we’ve trained really hard and I know the work is gonna pay off when we rest.”
