Gettysburg vs Ursinus

This past Saturday, the Gettysburg Bullets hosted Ursinus in the last duel meet of the season. The Bullets women got the ball rolling by going 1-2-3 in the 200-medley relay. On the men’s side, the bullets secured a 1-2 finish. Bullet’s Freshman Ava Berry (10:52.92) led from start to finish to take the women’s 1000 free. Gettysburg’s Sam Nelson claimed the top spot ahead of Ursinus’ McCauley David in the men’s event in a 9:56.13.
Mia Yancey (53.09, 1:54.10) stormed ahead of the pack to take both women’s 100 free and 200 free. Gettysburg went 1-2-3-4 in the men's event led by freshman Edward Kim (1:45.34). Bullet’s junior Olivia Pyott (1:07.31, 2:25.98)) claimed the top spot in the women’s 100 and 200 breast. Her teammate, senior Charlie Cross (58.86, 2:08.46), swept both the 100 and 200 breast. In the men’s 100 back, Cort Hobelmann (52.98) touched first putting big points on the board for the Bullets. Gettysburg’s Mia Morreale won the women’s 100 back in 59.21 followed by her teammate Lindsay Blake (1:00.37).
Gettysburg’s Bramley Hawkins (58.93, 2:11.85) won the 100fly and the 200 fly. In the men’s 200 fly, a trio of bullets captained by Luke McKenna (1:57.46) swept the podium. Valerie Lawton (24.93) claimed the top spot in the women’s 50 free. Lorenzo Zullo (21.61) outouched Ursinus’ Stephen Lyons lifting the crowd off their feet in the men’s 50 free. After the break, it was Connor Booth who took the top spot in the 100 free in a 47.37.
Gettysburg finished and claimed the top 4 spots in the women’s 200 back led by junior Lindsay Blake. The same feat was accomplished in the men’s event. The Quartet of Bullets was led by Edward Kim. Ursinus’ Missy Leanard won the women’s 500 free in 5:12.85. Her teammate, Kasznay Jonah (4:46.75) touched first in the men’s event. Sophomore Bullet Max McAlister (52.67) claimed the top spot in the men's 100 fly. Gettysburg’s Mia Yancey won the women’s 100 im in 1:00.37. Charlie Cross led the way on the men's side finishing in a 53.70.
The Gettysburg women went 1-2 in the 400 free relay to close out the meet. Ursinus won the men’s event thanks to a disqualification from the Gettysburg A relay. All in all, it was a phenomenal day of racing with lots of fast swims. We will see what more this team has in store for us in a few weeks.
